Sofia Richie Grainge is giving a heartwarming peek into life with her baby daughter.
The 26-year-old—who welcomed Eloise Samantha Grainge in May with Elliot Grainge—celebrated her husband’s 31st birthday by showcasing some sweet moments as a family of three.
In one snap shared to Sofia’s Instagram Story Nov. 6, Elliot lay on the ground while reading the children’s book How To Spot A Unicorn to the couple’s 5-month-old, who cuddled up to her dad while between his arms. On top of the snap, Sofia wrote alongside a teary-eyed emoji, “Greatest dad.”
In another pic, Sofia—who is the sister of Nicole Richie and daughter of Lionel Richie and his ex-wife Diane Alexander—leaned into a group selfie with Elliot and Eloise while the adorable trio took in a beautiful sunny day. For the special family portrait in the couple’s front yard, Sofia rocked a white tee and black sunglasses while Elliot donned a sky blue sweater and gray pants.
She wrote to her husband underneath the post, “We love you so much!”
And motherhood is already influencing the model in more ways than one, as she teased that she’s releasing an upcoming baby line with Amazon by having Eloise model a cozy top and bottom set covered in cartoon ladybugs. Sofia hinted the baby clothes are “coming soon” so others “can enjoy this cuteness as well.”
While Sofia is currently celebrating the moments of bliss as a family of three, she has also been open about the rough journey is took to get there.
“I had a great pregnancy up until about 32 weeks” she said on the Oct. 15 episode of the She MD podcast. “I woke up one morning and I texted Dr. A and was like, 'Hey, I woke up and I'm really tired today. My back really hurts. I feel a little crampy.' And I really thought it was going to be another one of those, 'Yeah, babe, that's pregnancy. You're going to be fine, but you can come in if you want me to check you' type situations.”
“But instead,” Sofia continued, “she was like, 'You know what? Actually, I think you should go see the fetal specialist to monitor, to make sure that everything's okay, and then you'll go home. It's not a big deal.'”
Once at the hospital, doctors discovered that the social media star was in active labor, which resulted in a six-night hospital stay and a six-week stint of active labor before a “fantastic delivery.” But her difficulties didn’t end there.
"I went home and I blew up like a balloon” she recalled. “Quite literally, just swelled. I felt very ill... So [Dr. A] sent over her wonderful nurse and my blood pressure was 165 over 103, which is like…”
According to the doctor, Sofia was experiencing postpartum preeclampsia, which is “a rare condition that occurs when you have high blood pressure and excess protein in your urine soon after childbirth,” according to the Mayo Clinic.
After another devastating but brief hospital stay, Sofia returned home and said she is “finally feeling like myself again.”
